This flu season, as I contemplate on health,
I'm reminded of the delicious variety of whole foods, like tapas, a korean meal is an array of flavorful vegetables and all kinds of nutritious goodness. What luxury to be fed this way 3x a day until the
age of 8.
Then we moved to LA and I turned 9.
My breakfast changed to sugary cereals, lunch with chocolate milk and cheap cafeteria pizza, burgers, fries and sugary juices and sodas.
For dinner, we sometimes had food resembling what we had in Korea but those days were far gone.
This new American diet would become my norm for the next three decades sprinkled with pared-down Korean foods.
I never realized the impact of this massive dietary shift until visiting
Seoul, Korea several years ago!
My olfactory system triggered the strongest memory recall I've ever experienced.
